Attire & Interview Tips

Be Prepared!

Gather all personal information required to fill out applications:

  • Current address and phone numbers (home phone and cell phone number)
  • Social Security Number
  • Correct name and address of your last employer
  • Names, addresses and phone numbers of a minimum of three references

Prepare a clean, concise, error-free resumé.  Bring several clean copies of your resumé with you; have them easily accessible.

Prioritize employers you plan to meet at the Job Fair.  (This Year's Exhibitors)

Research the employers you have prioritized.  Be prepared to ask employers questions about their company.

  • You need to know . . .
    • Products, services and size of company
    • Relevant industry issues
    • The competition
  • Where to find the information you need to know . . .
    • Company website
    • Newspapers
    • Call the company
  • Example questions to ask companies . . .
    • What positions are currently available?  Are they full-time or part-time?
    • What kind of experience does someone need to get into this field?
    • What qualities does your company/organization look for in an ideal candidate?

Dress for Success!

  • Conservative clothing is best
  • Khaki pants
  • Polo or button down shirts
  • Blouses
  • Well-groomed hairstyle
  • Clean, trimmed fingernails
  • No visible body piercing (nose, lip or eyebrow rings)
  • Minimal use of makeup (it should not be too noticeable)
  • No more than one ring on each hand
  • One set of earrings only
